EdChoice Parent Information

The Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice)  Program was created to provide students from underperforming public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. The program provides up to 60,000 EdChoice scholarships to eligible students.

Students currently attending there assigned  public school in their resident district that is on the list of designated public schools are eligible to apply.  Public school students attending a school in their resident district who will be assigned to one of the designated public schools for the upcoming school year are also eligible to apply.  Students currently attending a charter/community school whose assigned home school is an eligible school on our list are also eligible to apply.  Students eligible to enter kindergarten for the upcoming school year who would be assigned to one of the designated public schools are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Please note that students currently enrolled in and attending a designated public school building that is closing at the end of the school year are eligible to apply.  However, students whose eligibility is based on being assigned to a closing school (e.g., incoming kindergarten students) for the upcoming school year are NOT eligible for the scholarship.  No student will be awarded a scholarship based on being assigned to a closing school.

Note:  Students currently attending private school and home-schooled students are NOT eligible to apply for an EdChoice scholarship.

The on-line applications are submitted by the participating providers between February  and April of each year on behalf of the parent, ONLY AFTER the student has been accepted for enrollment by the school.

SCHOOLS

Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, the EdChoice Scholarship Program’s student application system is being merged into the student application system currently being used by the Autism Scholarship Program and the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program.  In the new system, schools are known as Providers.   The link below will take you to our interactive live data system to search for your provider.  When searching, be sure to select a county from the drop down list after you type the name of the provider.  If by chance your provider is not listed, the reason may be because they have not completed the registration process yet.
