Schools naturally stand on the front line of responsibility for assuring that Ohio's children are safe and supported as they learn. Close beside them are families and the network of local community organizations whose services address learning barriers such as poverty, cognitive learning challenges, emotiona/behavioral health and family issues.
Effective partnerships between schools, families and these community-based resources can help schools establish comprehensive systems of learning supports for students as well as more positive school climates. These conditions in turn lead to overall school improvement and community improvement.
