Human Trafficking Prevention in Ohio Schools
In-Service Training for School Staff
Ohio law requires city and exempted village school districts, educational service centers, community schools, and STEM schools to include information on school safety and violence prevention, including human trafficking, in their in-service training.
Schools may consider providing staff with information about the school’s protocols, including mandated reporting requirements, for supporting students who disclose neglect, abuse, or trafficking. The Ohio Department of Child and Youth's Report Abuse and Neglect webpage provides information about reporting suspected child abuse or neglect.
Schools can contact AHT@dps.ohio.gov to connect with an anti-trafficking victim service provider.
