Quarterly review cycle of previously approved materials

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce facilitates a quarterly review process to ensure districts and schools are using approved instructional materials in the instruction of English language arts and reading in core instruction and intervention.

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is currently accepting applications for revised editions of previously approved high-quality instructional materials and core curriculum in K-5 English language arts. The review cycles for revised editions of previously approved materials will run quarterly. The quarterly process is only for reviewing revised editions of previously approved materials.

Providing students with a solid foundation for learning is critical. The Department provides resources to support teaching and learning using high-quality instructional materials. In addition, high-quality instructional materials in English language arts must align to the science of reading, which provides scientifically proven strategies on how best to teach students to read.

Information is available on the Department’s website about the criteria, timeline, and process for this review cycle of revised editions of previously approved K-5 high-quality instructional materials and core curriculum in English language arts.

Complete the intent to apply found on the Department’s webpage within the Revised Editions of Kindergarten-Grade 5 Core Curriculum and Instructional Materials Request for Applications document by Friday, May 9.
