4/9/2024

In the Recycling episode of this series, Maria Bonner, co-director of the Zero Waste Program at Rural Action, explains recycling and how that fits into the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle cycle. Then join Bruce Underwood, executive director of the Athens-Hocking Recycling Centers, for a tour of a recycling facility to show the process in action and what actually happens to the things we recycle.

Other recent episodes include discussions on the impacts of invasive species and pollinators in the environment.

The “Why Should I Care?” series explores environmental science topics for students in grades 5-7. Each video in this series answers the basic questions students need to understand to act in their own community: What is the issue? Why is it important? What can be done?

"Why Should I Care?" is brought to you by the Broadcast Educational Media Commission (BEMC), the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), and WOUB Public Media.
