Get school resources to support student attendance
Ohio attendance law shifts the role of absence intervention teams from only supporting habitually truant students to working with “students at risk of becoming chronically absent and their families to improve the students’ attendance at school.” Students can be chronically absent, or miss 10% of school, by missing just two days per month.
Schools and districts can monitor and communicate about daily attendance as early as the first few days of the school year. Within an integrated multi-tiered system of supports, absence intervention teams use team-based problem-solving to identify factors that may be contributing to absences and implement effective supports for targeted groups of students to increase regular attendance.
Attendance Works also has resources to support schools and districts with organizing an effective school team to improve attendance.
