Third round of Drive to Succeed grants now open to educational service centers
8/12/2025
Grant proposals due by Sept. 12
The Ohio Department of Public Safety announced that additional grants to expand driver training to more Ohio families are available to educational service centers from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office. The Drive to Succeed grant program is designed to expand access to teen driver training for low-income Ohio families by funding regionally based scholarships for young drivers. Beginning this year, Drive to Succeed grant funding can also be used to support new drivers ages 18 to 20 who will be required to take driver training under a change to Ohio law that goes into effect on Sept. 30.
About $6 million in grants will be awarded over the next two years for young drivers to enroll at an approved driver training school. Since Drive to Succeed was first launched by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in 2023, more than $3 million has been awarded.
Funding to establish driver training scholarships will be awarded to educational service centers through a competitive grant process. Agencies that are interested in receiving a grant must submit their proposals before Sept. 12 at noon. Awards will be announced in October.
