Meals to support after-school programming

8/18/2022

The At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of the Child and Adult Care Food Program offers reimbursement for up to a meal and snack served after-school to children in low-income eligible areas.

Public or private nonprofit organizations can sponsor the program either at a school or another after-school program location. Participating programs must provide an educational or enrichment activity that is open to all children in an organized, structured and supervised environment. With approval, students can receive meals and snacks on weekends or holidays, including vacation periods during the regular school year. School Food Authorities already participating in the National School Lunch Program may participate by simply adding the Child and Adult Care Food Program to their existing meal program agreement.

Additional information can be found in the At-Risk Afterschool Meals Guide. Contact Kimberly.Hettel@education.ohio.gov with questions.
