New Teacher Institute focused on staff development for intervention specialists, mentoring roles available

The Ohio unit of the Council for Exceptional Children is partnering with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce to offer the New Teacher Institute, a membership incentive and mentoring program for any first-year intervention specialists across Ohio. The New Teacher Institute provides guidance, support, and resources to new intervention specialists.
The New Teacher Institute completed its second year this summer. The council now is in the process of recruiting for the third cohort, with an expected 120 new teachers joining this fall. All participating first-year intervention specialists will receive a free, one-year council membership. Interested applicants must apply for consideration by Sept. 3.
The council also is looking for veteran intervention specialists with more than three years of experience to serve as mentors to the cohort of new teachers. Mentors will receive a free, one-year council membership.
