Free webinar to help parents learn how to support their middle school students’ mental health needs

8/22/2022

Ohio 529, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Your Teen Media have partnered to offer a webinar designed for parents of middle school-age youth titled, “Why is Middle School So Tough? Ways Parents Can Help Their Kids Thrive” Aug. 24 at 8 p.m.

Adolescence is a complex and important part of a child’s growth and development. Many parents struggle to find the best ways to connect and support their middle school students’ mental health needs. A student may be struggling with one or multiple concerns at the same time, including academic performance, body image, bullying, dating and sexuality, technology, self-discovery and social acceptance.

Visit Your Teen Media’s webpage to register and learn more. Everyone registered will receive a free recording of the webinar.

The webinar will be held via Zoom and feature Lori Criss, director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Tim Gorrell, executive director of the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, which manages operations of Ohio’s 529 college savings program.
