The American Rescue Plan (ARP) Homeless Targeted Support Grant is a new opportunity for schools, districts, Head Start programs and joint vocational school districts to increase supports for students experiencing homelessness. Grantees can use these funds to find creative solutions to meet the unique and exceptional needs of this student population.

Selected grantees will receive $10,000 grants for any of the following:

  • Provide families with housing insecurity the knowledge and resources to ensure educational stability and consistency;
  • Support the essential, basic needs of students experiencing homelessness; and
  • Bolster existing and create new wrap-around services and supports.

The Department will consider applicants from the following categories:

  • Community schools and traditional public school districts with the full-time equivalent of fewer than 10 identified students experiencing homelessness in the 2020-2021 school year reported in EMIS;
  • Joint vocational school districts; and
  • Head Start programs in Ohio that received the Early Childhood Education Grant from the Department that have access to the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP).

The grant opens Aug. 29 and the deadline to apply is Oct. 17. Eligible applicants can complete their applications in the CCIP. The application consists of three questions and a budget proposal.

The Department will host a bidders conference Sept. 7, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. to provide additional information about the grant. Registration is not required. Simply click on the bidders conference link to join.
