Department recognizes 68 schools with Purple Star Awards
The Ohio Department of Education is proud to announce that 68 Ohio schools received Purple Star designations this school year. The Purple Star designation for military-friendly schools recognizes schools that show a significant commitment to serving students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces. A Purple Star school receives the designation for three years, after which the school can reapply.
Twenty-three Ohio schools received the esteemed award for the first time, and 45 schools earned renewal after three years as dedicated Purple Star schools. All awardees demonstrate a commitment to meeting the unique social, emotional and academic needs of Ohio’s military-connected youth. The list of statewide awardees is available on the Department’s Purple Star School webpage
. Purple Star awardees receive a special Purple Star recognition to display in their buildings.
