Webinars foster college and career readiness and entrepreneur education

12/14/2020

The Young Entrepreneurs Institute, Ohio Afterschool Network and EnvisionEdPlus are hosting three webinars on fostering college and career-ready skills with entrepreneur education. These free webinars include:

  • Entrepreneurial Education Professional Learning Community (EE-PLC): Join the Ohio Afterschool Network and EnvisionEdPlus monthly for a live, virtual hour of collaborative learning. During these sessions, educators, out-of-school time professionals, businesses and nonprofits will explore entrepreneur education’s many facets and discover new ways to engage young people in building their own entrepreneurial skills and mindsets so they can succeed anywhere, in anything they do. Sessions will be held from 10-11a.m. on Jan. 19, Feb. 16, March 16, March 20, April 20 and May 18. Register here.
  • Embedding the Certiport Entrepreneurship Small Business Credential into Ohio Schools and Out-of-School Programs: As Ohio shifts to the new, long-term graduation requirements, many students will need to demonstrate career readiness by earning Industry-Recognized Credentials, such as the Entrepreneurship Small Business certification, which counts as three of 12 points students can earn within the business and hospitality career pathways.

Ohio Afterschool Network and EnvisionEdPlus teamed up with businesses and nonprofits to identify free or reasonably priced entrepreneurship curricula that can be used in schools, after-school programs and summer learning to prepare students to earn their Entrepreneurship Small Business certification. Each course or program offers hands-on, fun ways to engage students in building entrepreneurial skills and mindsets. Each curriculum can be offered in person, virtually or in a blended model. Interested participants can attend one of the introduction sessions from 2-3 p.m. on Feb. 9, March 16 or May 4. The introduction is followed by a deep dive session from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on April 23 or June 4. Register here.

  • Earning the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal via Entrepreneurship: Hundreds of Ohio businesses recognize the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal. Now, young people who include the seal on their resumes often are viewed more positively by employers than other applicants with the same qualifications. The Ohio Afterschool Network, Young Entrepreneur Institute and Venture Lab partnered to create a free, 12-lesson curriculum through which students build entrepreneurial mindsets and skills while completing tasks to earn their OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seals. Interested participants can attend one of the introduction sessions from 1-2 p.m. on Feb. 9, March 16 or May 4. The introduction is followed by a deep dive session from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on March 19 or May 7. Register here.
