Grade 3 Paper Testing Choice and District Resolution Collection

12/17/2024

Data, resolutions due by May 1

Ohio law allows districts to choose between paper or online administration for the third grade Ohio's State Tests and/or the Alternate Assessment for Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD). A district board of education or governing authority must decide and submit a resolution by May 1, 2025.

The Grade 3 Paper Choice survey allows districts to select the third grade tests to be administered via paper test forms during the 2025-2026 school year. The survey also allows districts to submit the resolution approved by the board or governing authority to support the school’s or district’s choices. Please note that a Google account is required to upload any files to this survey.

A district can choose to deliver all or some of the following Grade 3 tests via paper test forms:

  • Ohio’s State Tests in English Language Arts
  • Ohio’s State Tests in Mathematics
  • AASCD English Language Arts
  • AASCD Mathematics

All data and PDF copies of board/governing authority resolutions must be submitted via this survey by May 1, 2025.

Districts do not need to submit a resolution if the district or school:

  1. Does not test third grade students and/or
  2. Plans to give only online tests to third grade students.

Note: If a school or district plans to continue administering online tests to third graders, paper accommodations as accessibility features are still available as detailed in Ohio's Accessibility Manual. A board/governing authority resolution regarding accommodations is not required.
