Soon the Department will announce a new funding opportunity for entities that support priority districts. Grants totaling $1 million will be awarded for developing or expanding programming related to Ohio’s alternative demonstrations of competency in the long-term graduation requirements.

The Department, along with Cambium Assessment, Inc., previously announced a voluntary English language arts writing assessment pilot. For the pilot to successfully ensure the reliability of high-quality writing items, test developers need more high school, urban and rural participants to join the pilot. To encourage more participation, the pilot is extended to Dec. 17.
