Register now: No-cost threat assessment team training this school year only

2/13/2023

Educational service centers will offer free training to all schools and districts in the nationally recognized Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) model for the remainder of this school year only. The training meets threat assessment team needs and fulfills the Safety and Violence Education Students (SAVE Students) Act threat assessment requirements.

Ohio law states that beginning no later than March 24, 2023, each local, city, exempted village and joint vocational school district must create a threat assessment team for each district school building serving grades 6-12. Each team member must complete an approved threat assessment training program from the list maintained by the Ohio Department of Public Safety upon appointment and once every three years thereafter.

Schools and districts can contact their local educational service centers to register. Visit the Department’s website or contact Jill Jackson with questions.

The Ohio Department of Education is committed to providing access and inclusion and reasonable accommodation in its services, activities, programs and employment opportunities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws. To request a reasonable accommodation due to a disability, please contact Aleshia McNutt, ADA coordinator, at ADAaccommodation@education.ohio.gov or (614) 387-2200 (voice) no later than 14 days before the event.
