New resource to address bus driver shortages
The Ohio Department of Education released a new guide to address the pupil transportation issues challenging Ohio and the nation. The Department developed the “Driver Shortage Playbook: Strategies, Supports and Use of ARP and ESSER funds to Address School Bus Driver Shortages” in collaboration with school transportation directors. It offers suggestions for how schools can use federal relief funds to improve transportation services. The playbook has tips and creative solutions for recruiting drivers, enhancing route logistics and engaging in shared services to ensure students have reliable transportation to school each day.
