Ohio among states with scores higher than national average
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often referred to as the Nation’s Report Card, released its 2024 results for grades 4 and 8 in reading and math. These assessments, conducted between January and March 2024, measure educational achievement across the country.
Nationwide, reading scores in grades 4 and 8 decreased from the 2022 results. Fourth grade math scores improved, while eighth grade math performance remained stable with no significant changes.
These results highlight the importance of focusing on improving literacy and math achievement. Ohio’s school leaders can leverage this data, along with other state and local measures, to make informed decisions not only for instructional areas but also to address non-academic barriers to achievement.
