Ohio Environmental Protection Agency Southeast Beautification Project

6/10/2024

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is excited to introduce the Southeast Beautification Project to school districts located in Southeast Ohio. This project is a collaboration with school districts and solid waste management districts to encourage recycling and prevent open dumping in the community.

The districts and schools in the following Southeast counties are eligible to participate:

  • Athens
  • Belmont
  • Gallia
  • Guernsey
  • Hocking
  • Jackson
  • Jefferson
  • Lawrence
  • Meigs
  • Morgan
  • Monroe
  • Muskingum
  • Noble
  • Pike
  • Scioto
  • Vinton
  • Washington
Districts and schools located in a participating county are invited to join a virtual meeting Thursday, June 20 or Tuesday, June 25 to learn more about the project and how it will support recycling in buildings. If a school does not currently provide recycling, this project will fund recycling containers and streamline service providers. If a school currently recycles, this project will fund recycling containers to build on success. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is also working with local solid waste management districts to develop an educational toolkit that will be available to teachers and students to champion a recycling program.
