New guide helps families engage in young learners' education

6/20/2023

The Department is introducing A Family’s Guide to Engagement. This new resource offers tangible, accessible tools for parents to encourage engagement with service providers and educational teams supporting students and advocacy on behalf of their children. Professionals, parents and advocates worked together to create the guide.

Focused on the early childhood years, the first chapter, Lived Experience, and the second chapter, Fostering Family Engagement, are available now. The Department will release additional chapters monthly. Educators and school personnel can use the guide to strengthen their work engaging families, supporting confident parents, building strong relationships and creating environments for effective team decision-making.
