New Secure Data Center special education reports

Data available for required reporting and review

Special Education Indicator reports are now available in the Secure Data Center (SDC) and will assist districts in reviewing data for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Special Education Indicator 1 Report and Indicator 2 Report contain data from 2021-2025. These data are included in district and school Special Education Profiles released annually.  

The Secure Data Center – Status of Reports webpage provides a listing of the reports included in the SDC and the years for which the data are available.

• Review the Status of Reports page to determine which data are currently available.
• Look for the current year (2025) listed in the Notes column for each tile to indicate if the SDC has been updated with 2024-2025 EMIS data.
• Collaborate with your EMIS Coordinator to verify the appropriate data has been submitted for 2024-2025.

If the provided resources do not address your questions, please collaborate with your EMIS Coordinator to do the following: 

1. Identify relevant data elements within EMIS and their collection. Are there one or more elements or collections that may factor in the data points you are investigating? 
2. Validate the timing of your submission and the SDC report refresh schedule. Are the data out of sync and do you need to wait for the next data refresh? 
3. Review your submission. Were there invalids or Level 1 errors present? 
4. Check for any general issues or Level 2 reports that could help identify anomalies. 
5. Verify current report card component technical documents and Where Kids Count Methodology.
6. If you still have questions related to the SDC reports, contact your Information Technology Center (ITC) and enter an EMIS HelpDesk ticket. Questions and responses are documented and available to all ITC EMIS contacts in the state.  

Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code require districts to report data in EMIS and to certify they have reviewed the data reported by the district in the EMIS Data Review and Verification. This verification should include all relevant reports, including those in the SDC. Data should be reviewed and verified prior to the close of the different data collections.  

The SDC is the main resource districts should use to review Ohio School Report Card data and now includes Special Education Profile data. It is an interactive tool that allows districts to review data well before the data is final and the report cards and Special Education Profiles are released.
