Nonrenewable temporary licenses expire July 1
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ohio Department of Education received the authority to issue a nonrenewable, one-year temporary license for the 2020-2021 school year to applicants who met all other qualifications for licensure but were unable to complete their required licensure examinations. These temporary (COVID-19) licenses expire July 1. Temporary license holders must meet all exam requirements before the expiration date of the one-year temporary license to continue to standard or alternative licensure.
Candidates should make arrangements to take their licensure exams now to meet this deadline. Examination sites throughout the state are open and available for scheduling required examinations. Applicants can find up-to-date information about testing and schedule future examinations on the Department’s licensure examination page.
Please note that the Department stopped issuing temporary (COVID-19) licenses Dec. 1, 2020. Call (877) 644-6338 with questions or send a message to the Office of Educator Licensure.
