Charter Schools Program grant intent to apply deadline is April 12

3/1/2021

The Ohio Charter Schools Program Planning and Implementation grants strive to increase the number of high-performing community schools and the percentage of community school students enrolled in high-performing schools. The expansion grant strives to increase the number of already-existing high-quality community schools that are expanding courses and programs, significantly increasing enrollment or adding grade levels. The grant also prioritizes serving students who are educationally and socio-economically disadvantaged.

After reviewing the eligibility requirements for the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Charter Schools Program subgrant competition on the Department's website, interested, eligible community schools must submit an Intent to Apply by April 12.

Three types of grants are available: 1) planning subgrants, intended for groups of individuals who are developing a high-performing community school; 2) implementation subgrants for community schools in their first and second years of operation; and 3) expansion subgrants for high-quality community schools seeking to expand.

The 2021-2022 request for application will be posted on the Charter Schools Program webpage on April 5. The Department will accept applications in the Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP) system from April 19 through May 17. The Department will host a virtual training on March 29 to help potential applicants learn more about each grant. Find the details here.
