Deadline extension: special education model policies and procedures

Local school board approval verification due May 30

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce updated the special education model policies and procedures to include changes to the Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities, which are available on the Department’s Operating Standards and Guidance webpage. All educational agencies must upload verification of local school board approval of related policies and procedures for the education of children with disabilities for the 2024-2025 school year though the Monitoring System by May 30.

This is an extension of the previous March deadline in response to feedback from the field about navigating this new process and timeline.

Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, the annual due date will be Nov. 30.
