New webpage, chat series support Ohio’s principals and building administrators

The Ohio Department of Education is committed to supporting all educators, including principals and assistant principals. The newly created Ohio Principal Leadership Supports webpage and Principal Chat series highlights information to support principals, assistant principals and administrators with their work.
The Ohio Principal Leadership Supports webpage includes a resource page grouped by topic and aligned to the Ohio Standards for Principals. It also highlights information on educator licenses, national and Ohio-based education associations and higher education. Soon, the Department will add an administrative calendar, complete with deadlines for requirements along with references to statute. Finally, the webpage links to professional development through the Ohio Professional Learning Directory. The directory is a curated catalog of professional learning resources providing educators with more choice and content providers with better access to those seeking professional learning across Ohio.
In addition to the webpage, the Department is hosting a series of monthly Principal Chats in collaboration with the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators and Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators. The chats will allow principals to engage with the Department to find additional support and resources.
Join the Department March 15 at 9:30 a.m. for the first chat of the series featuring Todd Whitaker. As one of the nation’s leading authorities on staff motivation, teacher leadership and principal effectiveness, Whitaker has written more than 60 books, including the national bestseller What Great Teachers Do Differently. His other titles include Dealing With Difficult Teachers, Ten-Minute Inservice, Your First Year, What Great Principals Do Differently, Motivating & Inspiring Teachers, and Dealing With Difficult Parents. Future chats will take place the second Wednesday of every month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Details about each chat and links to register will be available on the Principal Chats webpage, which also can be accessed from the Ohio Principal Leadership Supports webpage.
