Safety reminder handouts for teacher lesson plans
This year, Ohio’s Severe Weather Awareness Week takes place March 16-22.
As a resource for teachers planning their lessons, the Ohio Insurance Institute developed a series of handouts for students in grades 1-6 that focus on thunderstorm and lightning safety, as well as tornado safety. Also available are handouts to help families create a severe weather safety plan and a coloring page that reminds students to “DUCK” when severe weather hits.
Printable versions of the handouts can be found on the Ohio Insurance Institute’s website. Additionally, teachers can fill out a resource request form to have printed handouts mailed directly to them.
