Orientation for Nurses New to Ohio Schools begins Aug. 2

The Ohio Department of Health is hosting the 2024 Orientation for Nurses New to Ohio Schools this August. The three-day event includes an in-person day and two virtual days as follows:

• Aug. 2 in Westerville. The deadline to register is July 26.
• Aug. 9 on Microsoft Teams. The deadline to register is Aug. 2.
• Aug. 16 on Microsoft Teams. The deadline to register is Aug. 9.

Nurses licensed by the Ohio Board of Nursing who have not previously worked in Ohio schools should plan to attend. Event organizers will give priority registration to registered nurses with less than two years of experience in schools and those who have not previously attended the orientation. There is no fee for this three-day live conference.

Among the many topics the orientation will address are:

• Medication administration in Ohio schools;
• Identifying human trafficking resources for school nurses;
• Chronic health conditions management;
• Documentation and Confidentiality.
