Classroom resources available for this week’s In-Demand Jobs Week celebration
5/2/2022
Join the Department this week for In-Demand Jobs Week, Ohio's celebration of the jobs, industries and skills that are in demand in Ohio. This year's celebration features a video message for high school students from Lt. Gov. Jon Husted. Using the In-Demand Jobs Toolkit, educators can inspire students this week to think about their futures. The toolkit offers classroom and employer-based activities to help students learn about well-paying, in-demand careers and pathways. Teachers with younger students looking for ways to discuss careers can visit the K-5 Activities page for a special message from Lt. Gov Husted and activities that provide age-appropriate definitions of in-demand careers.
Another resource for career exploration this week is a video from the Broadcast Educational Media Commission, the Department and Public Media Connect (CET, ThinkTV). “Getting to Work - In-Demand Careers” gives an overview of several in-demand industries like advanced manufacturing, health care, IT, construction, aviation and supply chain. The video explains these industries need workers with varying levels of training and education. It also explains how people can start working in these fields to earn money while continuing their education to advance in the industry.
