Special Education Indicator Targets finalized

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act established a series of special education indicators to measure services and results for students with disabilities. Ohio worked with stakeholders to set targets across indicators through the 2025-2026 school. Ohio’s targets are available now on the Department’s website.

The Department recently posted public comment opportunities for several EMIS guidelines. The deadline to comment is May 26.

New Rules for Public Comment

The Department regularly posts rules for public comment. Recently, rules related to blended and online learning and bus driver training opened for comment. Find the rule and related public comment deadlines on the Department’s website. Check the site often as additional rules may be added throughout the week.

Kindergarten reading diagnostic date change

Due to a recent change in Ohio law, the reading diagnostic for kindergarten students must be administered by the 20^th day of instruction of the school year beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.

Rescheduled: Federal Programs New Coordinator’s Academy Homeless Education and Foster Children training

The previously announced New Coordinator’s Academy Homeless Education and Foster Children training session for May 12 has been rescheduled. The new date for the training session is May 19 from 9-10 a.m.
