New standards support student physical education and health

Ohio’s Learning Standards for Physical Education approved

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce approved Ohio’s Learning Standards for Physical Education in November 2025. The new standards are aligned with the 2024 National Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) standards. Revisions include a change from five standards to four standards, as well as a transition to grade band indicators across grades K-12 (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12).
