Free computer science workshop for middle school and high school leaders and counselors

Middle schools and high schools face unique challenges in preparing students for the future. Computer science is key, offering essential skills for thriving in the digital age. This summer, Code.org and the Ohio STEM Learning Network will offer Ohio teachers at any grade level and any subject area free professional development. School leaders and counselors are invited to learn more and prepare students for a bright future Thursday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Battelle’s headquarters in Columbus.

Preventing substance abuse and fatal overdose with evidence-based youth substance use prevention measures, opioid reversal agents

In a joint Dear Colleague letter issued Oct. 30, the U.S. Department of Education and White House Office of National Drug Control Policy call on schools to implement evidence-based youth substance use prevention measures and have opioid reversal agents like naloxone on-site and ensure students and staff are trained and prepared to use it.

In Ohio, early childhood educators can participate in self-paced professional learning on emergent literacy through Cox Campus. This coursework is always at no cost and allows educators to expand their professional knowledge of emergent and early language and literacy development for children from birth to kindergarten entry.
