New AED action plan and health guidelines support emergency preparedness
The Ohio Department of Health has released two updated resources to support schools in emergency situations.
The Model Emergency Action Plan for the Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) provides districts and schools with recommendations and resources on the use of AEDs.
The Emergency and Health Guidelines for Schools, developed in coordination with Emergency Medical Services for Children, the Ohio Association of School Nurses, and the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, provides districts and schools with guidelines for helping ill or injured students when the school nurse is unavailable.
