Seeking threat assessment training course providers

Ohio law requires the Ohio Department of Public Safety, in consultation with the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Attorney General's Office, to develop and maintain a list of approved training programs for completion by school threat assessment team members. At least one of the programs must be free to schools. Programs must be evidence based and include specific instruction elements.

The Ohio School Safety Center is soliciting course providers to be included on its approved list. Districts and schools currently using threat assessment training providers may forward this announcement to them. For an application to be considered complete, it must contain the following:

Applications and questions may be sent to OhioSchoolSafetyCenter@dps.ohio.gov. The subject of the email must include the following information: “Threat Assessment Training Approval Request – Name of Provider Here.” Please be sure to include the provider’s name in the email subject. Reviewers will notify programs if they are approved and post approved programs on the Ohio School Safety Center website on a biweekly basis.
