No-cost emergency management planning training for rural schools

10/15/2024

Develop comprehensive, high-quality school or district emergency operations plan

The Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Technical Assistance Center is excited to offer the Planning Considerations for K-12 Rural Schools Train-the-Educator training, created in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Supportive Schools. This training, to be held on Oct. 29, is designed to provide guidance on emergency management planning for rural schools.

The training will help rural education communities build the capacity to develop a comprehensive high-quality school or district emergency operations plan. Throughout the training, participants will hear case studies of rural schools’ accomplishments, specific challenges, and lessons learned.

Rural school and school district administrators, educators, staff, and members of an emergency operations planning team are encouraged to attend. This training is also applicable for fire officials, emergency medical services personnel, law enforcement, school resource officers, public health officials, mental or behavioral health practitioners, and other community partners.

Registration closes Friday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
