Annual Special Education Ratings released
10/30/2023
On Oct. 24, the Department released the 2023 Special Education Ratings for all districts and community schools. Each year, districts and schools in Ohio receive ratings evaluating the performance of their special education programs.
The Department calculates this rating using final data submitted through the Education Management Information System (EMIS). The compilation of data results in one of four possible ratings: Meets Requirements, Needs Assistance, Needs Intervention or Needs Substantial Intervention. For information about what’s new to this year’s rating, see Ohio's 2023 Special Education Rating Process.
The Department emailed notifications to superintendents, special education contacts and community school sponsors with instructions to access their online rating reports through the Department’s OH│ID portal. If you have questions about the Special Education Rating, contact the Department at determinations@education.ohio.gov.
