Purple Star application window opens Nov. 1

The Department will begin accepting applications from schools that would like to become Purple Star-designated schools Nov. 1. The Purple Star designation recognizes schools that show a significant commitment to serving students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces. All applicants must demonstrate a commitment to meeting the unique wellness and academic needs of Ohio’s military-connected youth. A Purple Star school receives the designation for three years, after which the school can reapply. Purple Star schools eligible for a renewal designation will receive an invitation to apply via email to their Military Family Liaisons.

The application window is open from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15. Members of the Purple Star Class of 2024 will be announced in April 2024, the Month of the Military Child.
