Announcing October as Ohio School Safety Month: Know School Safety, Know Your Role – It's Everyone’s Responsibility
Governor Mike DeWine designated October as Ohio School Safety Month, as outlined in Ohio law, to increase public awareness of school safety programs and to encourage Ohioans to identify their role in keeping Ohio schools a safe place for students to learn and grow. The Ohio Department of Education, in partnership with the departments of Public Safety and Mental Health and Addiction Services will provide school safety information and resources each week.
Comprehensive School Safety for Students and Staff is the theme for week one, Oct. 2-8. Highlights this week include Ohio’s new Comprehensive School Safety Framework, created in partnership with Ohio departments of Education, Public Safety and Mental Health and Addiction Services, a comprehensive school safety podcast, awareness of the Safer Ohio School Tip Line and threat assessment team information and policies.
