Thirteen Ohio schools named 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized 297 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2022, including 13 schools in Ohio. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

The Ohio schools named as National Blue Ribbon Schools were:

  • Canfield Village Middle School, Canfield Local School District, Canfield.
  • South Range Elementary School, South Range Local School District, Canfield.
  • Oakwood Junior High School, Oakwood City School District, Dayton.
  • Hicksville Elementary School, Hicksville Exempted Village School District, Hicksville.
  • Olentangy High School, Olentangy Local School District, Lewis Center.
  • Lynchburg-Clay Elementary School, Lynchburg-Clay Local School District, Lynchburg.
  • Sauder Elementary School, Jackson Local School District, Massillon.
  • Watson Elementary School, Perry Local School District, Massillon.
  • Seaborn Elementary School, Weathersfield Local School District, Mineral Ridge.
  • Port Washington Elementary School, Indian Valley Local School District, Port Washington.
  • Grace L Roxbury Elementary School, Solon City School District, Solon.
  • Versailles Elementary School, Versailles Exempted Village School District, Versailles.
  • Isham Memorial Elementary School, Wadsworth City School District, Wadsworth.

National Blue Ribbon Schools serve as models of effective school practices for state and district educators and other schools throughout the nation. The U.S. Department of Education recognizes honorees in one of two performance categories, based on all student scores, subgroup student scores and graduation rates:

  • Exemplary High-Performing Schools are among their state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.
  • Exemplary Achievement Gap-Closing Schools are among their state’s highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a school’s student groups and all students.
