Celebrating Farm to School Month

10/15/2025

Recognizing schools and institutions that support food, nutrition, and agriculture education

In celebration of Farm to School Month, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is announcing the 2025 Grow Ohio Grantees receiving funding for innovative farm to school projects, such as outdoor and indoor school gardening, hydroponics, collaborations with local food producers, and food literacy activities.

The Grow Ohio Grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture 2022 Farm to School Formula Grant. The Grow Ohio Grant supports sponsors of the National School Lunch Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Food Service Program in creating opportunities for children to gain knowledge of potential careers in agriculture. This effort bolsters relationships between Ohio food producers and child nutrition programs, and increases school-grown foods.

National Farm to School Month celebrates schools and organizations that provide programming centered on food, nutrition, agriculture education, school gardens, and the use of locally grown food in school meals. Farm to School participants are encouraged to build connections with local farmers, nonprofits, agricultural-based businesses, and other partners, strengthening the farm to school experience for students and the community.

Visit the Grow Ohio Grant webpage for more information about the funded projects.
