Ohio School District Nationally Recognized in Washington D.C. for Strategic Efforts to Innovate Student Learning

Release date: 7/2/2019

Educators and administrators from Fairview Park City Schools were recognized last week by the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) in Washington D.C. for their innovative work in improving student learning and achievement at the district.

In February, ICLE designated Fairview Park City Schools as a 2019 “Innovative District” for educators’ and administrators’ efforts to change, establish a vision and systematically work together to create a learning environment that enables students of all abilities to thrive. This honor also solidified an invitation to the 27th Annual Model Schools Conference held last week, where district staff shared key learnings on the topic of “Making Transformative Change a Reality.”

“I am so proud of our team. They did a tremendous job sharing the Fairview Advantage and their innovative practices with others,” said Superintendent Dr. Bill Wagner. “There were over 5,000 attendees at the Model Schools Conference, and it was fun to watch how educators from around the country gravitated to them as they shared the work we are doing and progress we’ve made.”

Fairview Park was one of only eight districts to receive this year’s Innovative District distinction, which is presented to districts that demonstrate a substantive, data-validated growth year over year; evidence of a strong culture that puts students at the center of learning; and dedication to transforming instruction to meet the needs and demands of the future. The district’s submitted application included a video along with other materials to highlight how Fairview Park City Schools aligns with the unique criteria ICLE seeks in each Model School/Innovative District, including credible supporting data; passion; student focus; future forward; supportive culture; communication, PR and branding.
