State Board of Education President Issues Statement on Selection Process for Superintendent of Public Instruction

On June 13, the Ohio Ethics Commission released a letter, dated May 2, to the Ohio Department of Education indicating the Ethics Commission sought additional information pertaining to the selection process for the superintendent of public instruction.

State Board of Education President Charlotte McGuire Issues Statement Regarding Change in Ohio Department of Education Leadership

Today State Board of Education President Charlotte McGuire issued the following statement about Superintendent Stephen D. Dackin’s resignation.

“Today, I received notice from Stephen D. Dackin of his resignation from the position of superintendent of public instruction. Dr. Stephanie Siddens will serve as interim superintendent of public instruction effective immediately until the State Board can appoint her as Interim Superintendent at the Board’s June meeting. I am confident that together we will continue the important work in support of Ohio’s children, families and future.”
 

Ohio Awards $14 Million in Grants to Accelerate K-12 Learning

The Ohio Department of Education, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Higher Education, today awarded $14 million in Statewide Mathematics and Literacy Tutoring Grants to Ohio colleges and universities planning to create or expand mathematics and literacy tutoring programs for Ohio’s K-12 students in one-on-one or small-group settings.

The State Board of Education of Ohio today selected Stephen Dackin as the 39^th superintendent of public instruction for Ohio and leader of the Ohio Department of Education.

$89 Million Awarded for Summer Learning and Afterschool Programs that Address Students’ Academic Needs and Well-Being

The Ohio Department of Education today awarded $89 million in Summer Learning and Afterschool Opportunities Grants to 161 community-based partners. The Department received more than 700 applications from across the state. Awardees will use these funds to create or expand out-of-school time services that address the academic needs and overall well-being of students most in need of services as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
