Ohio Department of Education Announces Summer Food Service Program

To increase participation in summer meal programs, the Ohio Department of Education is seeking local nonprofit agencies to participate as sponsors or sites for this year’s Summer Food Service Program. The Summer Food Service Program ensures that children ages 1-18 continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer break from school, when they do not have access to school breakfast or lunch.

McPherson, Ward Selected as Ohio’s Nominees for National Recognizing Inspirational School Employees (RISE) Award

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria together with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today honored Cerssandra McPherson, a paraprofessional working with special education students in the Toledo Public School System, and Barbara Ward, a school bus driver for the Fairland Local School District, as Ohio’s nominees for the first annual national Recognizing Inspirational School Employees (RISE) Award.

Philanthropy Ohio and the Ohio Department of Education are pleased to announce grants awarded to 29 projects, totaling just over $2.6 million and benefitting approximately 107,516 students across Ohio, through the Collaborative Fund for Educating Remotely and Transforming Schools (the Collaborative Fund) in a second round of funding.
