
John Hagan
District 9
John P. Hagan was elected to the State Board of Education in November 2018 and reelected in November 2022.
John was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for eight years, four years of that time serving as chairman of the House Public Utilities Committee. He also sponsored and shepherded legislation that formed the Golden Buckeye and Best Rx discount drug programs; sponsored legislation to expand victims’ rights; and sought to tighten state regulations on construction and demolition landfills.
John attended Kent State University School of Architecture before succeeding his father in their family heating and plumbing business at the age of 21. He has been a member of several community service organizations and served as a Marlboro Township (Stark County) trustee for nearly 19 years.
He grew up on his family’s farm, where he and his wife, Tina, still reside. They have four children and 11 grandchildren.
