Member At-Large

Sue Hackett was appointed to the State Board of Education as a member at-large by Gov. Mike DeWine in April 2022. Her term will end in December 2024.

She is originally from Springfield, Ohio, where she attended Northeastern High School. She went on to earn her RN at the Community School of Nursing, her BSN from the State University of New York, and her MSN from Otterbein College.

Sue worked extensively in the health care field as a nurse and administrator. She served in several leadership roles at Ohio health care companies, primarily focusing on quality assessment, program management, and operations management.

Sue, now retired, serves in the local London community, including on the Madison Health Foundation Board of Directors, currently serving as an officer; she also serves on the Board of Directors of the London Country Club. Additionally, Sue volunteers her time with the Madison County Republican Party, where she is a member of the Central Committee and an officer with the Women’s Club.

Sue believes that Ohio’s schools can benefit from local control of education by parents, teachers, and school boards. She also would like to see increased expansion of school choice opportunities.

She lives in London, Ohio, with her husband, Bob, where they are members of Saint Patrick’s Parish. They enjoy spending time with their son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
