Career Advising Policy and Student Success Plan

Career Awareness and Exploration Funds

To support the implementation of a more career-focused approached to education in Ohio, House Bill 110 has established funding to be used towards career awareness and exploration in each city, local, exempted village, and joint vocational school district, community school, and STEM school.

Career Awareness and Exploration Funds Guidance Kick-off Session:

The Department is offering a virtual event to provide guidance about Career Awareness and Exploration Funds Guidance Kick-off Session November 30th 11:00a - 2:00p (for those unable to join the November 2nd session)

Registration is available here.

Following attendance at a kick-off session, two question and answers sessions to discuss progress on plans and share ideas are available:

The Department’s Office of Career-Technical Education and Office of Graduate Success will lead the session. The session will provide an overview of the funds, related processes and use of funds. Additionally, it will highlight resources and best practices for using and transferring the funds. We highly encourage you to invite at least one person from each school district of your Career-Technical Planning District to be in attendance.

Now more than ever, students need to see a connection between what they are learning in the classroom and their future careers. Ohio law requires local boards of education to adopt a policy on career advising. The Department provides model career advising policies and student success plans that districts may use to inform local plans.
