Career Technical Articulation Verification

Introducing guaranteed college transfer credit for eligible students completing qualified high school career-technical education courses

The Ohio departments of Education and Higher Education are partnering to grant college credit automatically to students who have completed qualifying high school career-technical education courses and earned eligible scores on their WebXams. For the system to work, districts must include a State Student Identifiers (SSID number) on each student transcript.

The new Ohio Career-Technical Articulation Verification (CTAV) initiative means no more verification legwork for students. It also means schools can reclaim the time they’ve been spending producing verification documents for students and postsecondary institutions.

To take advantage of this benefit, districts follow only three simple steps:

  1. Review the district's current student transcript form to make sure it complies with Ohio law by including each student’s Statewide Student Identifier (SSID).
  2. If SSIDs do not appear on current transcripts, develop a process now for making the them available to the district’s vendor, so colleges and universities receive students’ SSIDs with their other transcript data.
  3. Submit WebXam scores in EMIS as early in the assessment period as possible, so colleges and universities can confirm students received scores that qualify them.

Finally, read the regular Career-Technical Articulation Verification transfer credit report that will tell districts which of their students will receive transfer credits in which courses. The report is a great new tool for career-planning mentors and guidance counselors, and it lets students learn about transfer credits they may not know they have.
