New EMIS Coordinator Training: April 2023 In-Person Training Day
Tuesday, April 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a 45-minute break for lunch

This in-person training day is intended for those who have been EMIS coordinators for less than a year. This day's training will include the same topics included in the online sessions (see the next item in the Newsflash). However, this in-person training will be less detailed and more tailored toward very new coordinators.

Space is limited. To express your interest in attending this training, fill out the survey at this link. The survey will be open Wed., March 1 through the close of business Wed., March 8. We will notify all responders by the close of business Fri., March 24 to let them know whether or not their registration has been accepted. For more information, see the New EMIS Coordinator Training webpage.

New EMIS Coordinator Training: April 2023 Online Sessions
In April, we are again offering New EMIS Coordinator training. We strongly recommend that all EMIS coordinators with 3 or fewer years of experience with EMIS reporting attend. Though we have designed the April training with new EMIS coordinators in mind, these trainings are open to EMIS coordinators at all levels as well as to other district staff and administration who may be interested.

These sessions will be provided via Microsoft Teams. Each topic will be offered once with a recording to be posted after all sessions have concluded. We encourage you to invite other district staff with whom you work and who are involved with EMIS data or reporting to join you in watching these trainings.

Prior registration will not be required. A link to join the training and other pertinent information will be provided on the New EMIS Coordinator Training webpage.

EMIS Communications & Resources
Wednesday, April 12, 1-3 p.m.
This session will review the main ways in which EMIS communicates information with the field. This session will also look at the different types of EMIS documentation—from the EMIS Manual to Release Notes—and explain the purpose of each. EMIS coordinators at all levels as well as district staff and administration involved with reporting or reviewing EMIS data will find this session useful.

Data Collector
Friday, April 14, 9-11 a.m.
The Data Collector is the tool by which districts submit their EMIS data to the Department. This is also where districts will find a number of reports provided to assist them in reviewing their data. EMIS coordinators of all levels as well as other staff members who will be submitting data or reviewing reports will find this session useful.

Ohio District Data Exchange (ODDEX)
Monday, April 17, 1-3 p.m.
ODDEX is the primary application for a number of smaller modules districts use for data verifications and exchanges. The modules include everything from enrollment data to assessment data to tuition information. This session will look at each module, focusing on overall function and newer modules. EMIS coordinators at all levels as well as district staff and administration who review or use EMIS data will find this session useful.

Report Portal: Secure Data Center (SDC)
Wednesday, April 19, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
This session will introduce and review the Secure Data Center (SDC) and provide best practices for utilizing SDC reports. Though designed mainly for new EMIS coordinators, EMIS coordinators at all levels as well as other district staff involved with submitting and reviewing EMIS data may find this session useful and are welcome to attend.

Data Review & Appeals
Wednesday, April 19, 1-2 p.m.
This session will review the FY23 EMIS Data Reviews and Data Appeals requirements and processes. EMIS coordinators of all levels as well as district administrators who will be responsible for signing off on these processes will find this session useful.

Pulling It All Together
Friday, April 21, 9-11 a.m.
The other New EMIS Coordinator sessions each introduce and explain one piece of EMIS. This session will demonstrate how those pieces come together in EMIS reporting. Though designed mainly for new EMIS coordinators, EMIS coordinators at all levels as well as other district staff involved with submitting and reviewing EMIS data may find this session useful and are welcome to attend.
