Welcome to the Report Card Training Hub

This dedicated resource serves as a guide to effectively navigating Ohio School Report Cards and associated processes. These virtual trainings and pre-recorded videos are designed to provide focused, in-depth learning on single topics. Each virtual session is up to two hours in length and does not require prior registration. Whether you’re a superintendent, EMIS coordinator, administrator, or counselor; an ESC or SST consultant; or an ITC professional, these trainings are tailored to equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to understand and utilize Ohio School Report Card Data.

Report Card Trainings

The professional learning opportunities will cover:

  • Building Effective Report Card Data Teams
  • An in-depth review of report card measures,
  • Guidance on how to utilize the various resources, such as technical documents, EMIS and Secure Data Center reports used to validate data reported in EMIS and report card calculations

When: July 2025 - July 2026
Format: Two-hour sessions hosted by the Office of Accountability with some program offices
Who should attend: District Data Teams (including Traditional Districts, Community Schools, CTPDs, DPRs staff, sponsors, etc.), ITC staff, ESC staff, and SST staff


Traditional Gap Closing

This training session aims to familiarize district staff with a deep dive into the calculations utilized in the Gap Closing Ratings for the Traditional Report Cards:

  • ELA and Math Achievement
  • ELA and Math Growth
  • Graduation Rate
  • English Language Proficiency (ELP) Improvement Indicator
  • Chronic Absenteeism Improvement Indicator

Traditional Progress

The Department in collaboration with Dr. John White, V.P., SAS, will be presenting about growth measures and the calculations utilized in the Value-Added ratings in the Traditional Report card in order to provide a clear understanding of how student progress is measured and interpreted.

This training session aims to familiarize district staff with a deep dive into the calculations utilized in the Early Literacy Ratings for the Traditional Report Cards

This training session aims to familiarize district staff with a deep dive into the calculations utilized in the Components for the Dropout Prevention and Recovery Report Cards:

  • High School Test Passage Rate

  • 4-Year through 8 Year Graduation Rates

Traditional Gifted Performance Indicator

This training session aims to familiarize district staff with a deep dive into the calculations utilized in the Gap Closing Ratings for the Traditional Report Cards

This training session aims to familiarize district staff with a deep dive into the calculations utilized in the Achievement Ratings for both the Traditional and Career Technical Planning District Report Cards

SDC: Overview

This session will introduce the Secure Data Center (SDC) and provide best practices for utilizing SDC reports. Though designed mainly for new users, users at all levels involved with submitting and reviewing EMIS data may find this session useful.

This session will introduce the Career Technical Education Reports in the Secure Data Center (SDC) and provide best practices for utilizing SDC Reports. This session is specifically designed for Career Technical Planning Districts and Traditional Districts who offer Career Technical Pathway Programs.
