Join us in Heading to Kindergarten!

Heading to Kindergarten is creating a new cohort for the 2021-2022 school year and you are invited to join us!
During the 2020-2021 school year, four public schools / Head Start teams from around Ohio participated in the Heading to Kindergarten pilot project:

  • Celina City Schools / Mercer County Head Start
  • Miamisburg City School District / Miami Valley Child Development Center
  • Port Clinton City Schools / Great Lakes Community Action Program
  • Warren City Schools / Trumbull County Community Action Program

Heading to Kindergarten provides a structure, a process, resources and technical assistance to support best practices that enhance collaboration between early care and education programs, public schools and community partners as a critical pathway to better child outcomes.

If your school district would like to participate, please complete an application by Friday, October 15, 2021 and return to the Head Start mailbox at HeadStart@education.ohio.gov. Cohort participants will be announced by October 22, 2021.

Heading to Kindergarten supports Each Child Our Future and the Whole Child Framework by helping schools, families and communities work together to meet the needs of the whole child. In addition, participating in this project will help your district meet the requirements of Title I and Every Student Succeeds Act.

We hope you will consider this great opportunity!
