Each Child, Our Future is Ohio’s strategic plan for education. Equitypartnerships, and quality schools are the three core principles of the strategic plan. This grant program aims to address all three principles with a special emphasis on equity. The strategic plan seeks to expand access to relevant and challenging academic experiences for each child, as well as educational resources necessary for success across race, gender, ethnicity, language, disability, family background and income.

This grant's four focus areas of advanced coursework, career pathways, personalized learning, and credit recovery and academic acceleration services provide a unique opportunity for districts and community schools to create and expand programming that aligns with Ohio’s strategic plan for education.

In 2018, the Department announced competitive awards for the first phase of the grant. In 2019, competitive awards for the second phase of the grant were announced. For state fiscal year 2021 and subsequent years, the Expanding Opportunities for Each Child  program is a non-competitive grant.

Program Updates:  Fiscal Year 2023

For state fiscal year 2023 (FY23), the Expanding Opportunities for Each Child program is a non-competitive grant. All traditional school districts and community schools with at least one federally identified school will receive these funds. In Ohio, schools identified for improvement are designated as Priority, Warning and Focus schools.

The FY23 Expanding Opportunities for Each Child grant application is within the CCIP Consolidated Funding Application. The CCIP application requires districts and community schools to answer a series of questions to ensure funds are allocated in accordance with federal regulations and eligible for reimbursement.

For more information about the non-competitive process, grant focus areas and allowable activities for this grant for FY23, please see the Grant Funding Information document provided below.

If you have questions regarding these funds or need more information, please send an email to eoecgrant@education.ohio.gov
